You know how some books are pretty much just a journey and that is kind of the whole plot? And the characters end up building relationships because of the hardships they've been through together on the journey? I would love to read more of those. Ever since reading City of Thieves by David Benioff that's all I want to read so if you've got anything like that please suggest! Bonus points if they come across a place to stay and have an emotional conversation while staying there lol

    Thanks!!

    1. Maybe you’d like Moby-Dick, or, The Whale by Herman Melville. I see this novel getting quite a bit of hate, but I surprisingly ended up enjoying it a lot. It’s about a whaling journey in the mid 19th century, led by a captain who is obsessed with killing a whale named Moby-Dick for biting off his leg. A ton of chapters in this book are the protagonist describing mundane events on the ship and the whaling equipment. At one point the entire process of how to skin a whale and extract everything useful from it is described in great detail throughout several chapters. I found it very immersive. The novel really tries to make you feel like you’re also one of the crew members, making your way around the globe on this ominous looking whaling ship and kind of thinking that maybe this entire “kill Moby-Dick” thing is not worth it, but also not being able to go against the captain’s wishes.

    2. In the sci-fi sphere, Becky Chambers’ **The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet** has a construction spaceship crewed with a found-family of multiple species travel across the galaxy to a new job. Most of the story consists of interactions between the crew and incidents that happen along the way.

I just finished Swan Song by Rober R. McCammon. It’s very much about the journey.
