Hello! Very specific request here, so thank you in advance. I’m looking for books that I (25f) can read alongside my parents (53f, 62m) as part of a little summer “book club” I want to encourage as an attempt to bring us closer as a family :). I’ve gotten them both on Libby since audiobooks keep their attention better and are so much more convenient, and want to take advantage of the additional free time over the next few months.
Fiction / non fiction is fine, as long as it’s accessible in terms of language (English is not my mom’s first language, and she’s struggled with reading her whole life, so I’m so happy that audiobooks are something that have piqued her interest thus far, and don’t want to intimidate her and turn her off from books altogether). I’d also like to avoid heavy “classics” and books that are academic.
Nothing about parent / child relationships. Really just looking for something to bond over with them, and as a way for them to reconnect as well. No romance / “spice” (obviously). I’d like to prioritize plot over characters / “vibes” since plot may be easier to follow. TIA 🙂
