I know it's historically accurate to a certain point that the MMC is a dick. He either thinks the FMC is incapable of things he is or he thinks men are the smartest most logical beings in the land or etc. This might just be a disappointment of the books I have read in this genre so far.
I basically would like to be recommended stories with the setting being in the medieval – victorian period but the MMC basically being modern day guy or having mostly modern beliefs, basically NOT historically accurate. The world can be as historically accurate as the author wants but I want to actually like the MMC instead of just disliking most of them because of the year they were born in. I could actually read a story where the MMC evolves in his thoughts into a more modern mindset overtime instead of initially.
other tropes;
– time travel into the past would be fine for the MMC or FMC
– don't like cheating
– can be gay romance in which case this applies to both
