I still can't get over how good the Hunger Games series is, it's so disturbing and enthralling with an immersive world you can get lost in and it has so much social commentary. THG knock-offs were always really bad, mainly coming down to "Okay in this world pretty popular people are called Diamonds and the misfits are called stones errr I'm the leader of the revolution now!" No social commentary, just theatrics and dystopian societies that made zero sense…
I always though Wither: The Chemical Garden and Slated were pretty good (I also have a soft spot for Shatter Me even though everybody hates it), but still not quite as immersive or impactful.
Was there ever a YA dystopia series that managed to be as sick and enthralling as THG or did none of the knockoffs come close?
