I remember reading this story in my highschool English class. It was about a young native American boy and his young sister (who is about 3-4 years old) that were taken and separated from their tribe by white people. He ends up getting separated from his sister because another family takes her and he spends I think over a year looking for her and he finally finds her at a small get together playing with a doll. He tries to talk to her but she doesn't recognize him and doesn't respond, so he starts singing a native American song to her and she starts to sing it with him and remembers him. I vaguely remember a part of the book involving scalping of one of the attackers but I don't remember much else. If anyone knows please let me know!
