I absolutely loved this book and devoured it in a few readings. Poignantly beautiful in classic Hesse style, I found myself identifying in a lot of ways with Peter, and the prose was so beautiful and simple, yet layered and sublime. I’ve only read Siddhartha, and while I very much enjoyed that, I’m surprised that I don’t hear more about his earlier works, as this book was delightful!
