I just started getting into reading a month ago & some books I've read so far are Them She Was Gone, Local Woman Missing, A Stolen Life, & I am currently reading The Five Year Lie.

A Stolen Life is a true crime story so my post is not about that; I just mentioned it because it ties into the topic that I enjoy reading. While the psychological thriller aspects can be interesting & leave me wanting to read further, I noticed all the 3 fictional books are written by white female authors. Sometimes when I read them, I read something about a PTO mom, or sipping wine, and it feels like I'm just reading the exact same author, if that makes sense. I would love to read more books by a more diverse selection of authors, so I can read different, unique experiences.

Side note I very much enjoyed Then She Was Gone where we see how Ellie's time went, and what happened to her in the end; the letter she wrote where we hear directly from her what she went through. It felt so realistic and heartbreaking, so any books that have a similar realistic and sad feeling.

    Thank you!

When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole.

Side note- I feel the same way about thrillers by a lot of white women authors. Many of them seem to feature rich/privileged characters that I just can’t relate to.
