Going to be tough to thread the needle on target audience given how long the gap between books is, not many examples of this style of sequel being particularly good.

My nine year old will read anything in this series, so yay, but is this really a trilogy about a quest seeking…letters of recommendation for college? Is he going to have to defeat some kind of three-headed succubus to get financial aid?

He kind of went off the deep end after Heroes of Olympus, so I don’t have high hopes.
I personally think that he peaked with Kane Chronicles.

Middle school librarian checking in. Kids today still love the Percy Jackson books (and other books set in the universe). I had two ask me to get the Chalice of the Gods for the library.
It won’t be hard to find the audience.

Having so many series that are technically in the same universe is already something that I don’t like much, but now Rick wants to go back to Percy too? He’s already contributed to the defeat of the Titans and Gaia, and I feel like every facet of this character has been explored. What else is there to talk about, honestly? Well, whatever. If the author still has fun writing them and if enough people still have fun reading them, I guess he can keep going.

His series was so great when it came out, that I enjoyed it, even in my early 20s. Definitely an age bracket ABOVE the target audience…
He’ll be an author that I shamelessly buy every book for, and even if I stop enjoying it as much, will still buy and read just to expand his place on my shelf.

I religiously read everything that man wrote when I was 12. Now I’m a grown man with refined literary tastes… and you’re damn right imma stay up all night reading this when it comes out 😂

Good god some of you are so damn pretentious. I’m super sorry the PJ books offend your refined literary sensibilities, and that you can’t simply let people enjoy what they enjoy.

I’ll definitely read this. I first read them in my early twenties and it became my favorite. I’m excited for this.

Percy Jackson has remained in my heart since I was 10. If he releases a new book for that character when I’m 50 I’ll still read it

I wish he’d just run for mayor again.

No surprise there, I bet it’s what sells the most. In other news, Disney will keep making Marvel superhero movies.

Me knowing I’ve outgrow the target audience and I will never enjoy reading them as much as I did when I was a teenager: *cries*
Lmao I’ll still have a crack at it anyway

I’m glad for this new trilogy and will read anything Percy Jackson-related as long as I am able to but tbh in terms of overall story and character arc I don’t think Riordan is challenging himself as much as he could be — the original series from Lightning Thief and Last Olympian had a great tight arc and deftly tackled a lot of serious themes in age-appropriate ways (childhood neglect/ abandonment, domestic abuse, climate change, etc.) — and I sort of wish that he’d plot out something really interesting instead of just throwing Percy on more quests. I know he’s capable but it mostly seems like he planned out these books simply to sustain interest in Percy during the show’s Disney+ run.

Read the first two or three as a kid. Even at the time I thought they were absolute ass.

I loved reading these books when I was younger and I’ve passed it onto my little brother who is loving them at the moment
