I've read a book of the great japanese writer "Murakami" (which is the second one i've ever read of him) just a month ago, called "Kafka on the shore". The book in question has two stories that alternates by every chapter. The first one is on the side of Tamura (who chose Kafka as his pseudonym), that is on the run from his father, a brilliant and satanic sculptor, and from his prophecy, which echoes that of Oedipus.. The second one is on the side of Nakata, an old man that is innocent and stupid as a child, capable of speaking with cats, flees from a scene of a shocking crime in which he was involved against his will. Both Tamura and Nakata end up on Takamatsu, on south of Japan, living their absurd adventures.

The story is very appealing, absurd and full of mysteries. The characters, even the secondary ones, are great just like the main characters, with their own personalities, life issues and objectives. The character that i loved the most was Nakata, the old man.

This book, even tho it had small little parts that are extremely weird (i will not specify to not spoil anything), really kept me attached to it for weeks. I reccomend this book to the people who loves weird mysteries, weird stories and relationships.

    Opinions?
