I'm 21 & my taste in books are changing drastically. I used to love angsty, young adult books but now it is not the case. I don't know what my favorite genre is anymore… Romance or love stories aren't it for me now. I used to like reading Sylvia Plath, , Bukowski, Virginia Woolf, etc… Russian stories or novels have always held a special spot for me.. Anna Karenina is one of my favourite books.. But I'm also aware of the reputation of A little life. Can you help me pick between these two?

Well I haven’t read a little life but BK is awesome, if you can get through a couple of dud chapters. But the second half of the book flew by and I was really interested in what was going to happen to each of the 3 bros. Their personalities get really well developed. There’s also one of the best chapters in all of literature that’s just a conversation between Ivan and Alyosha. For reference I’m 25 and read all kinds of books and I enjoyed it, even tho I am not loving war and peace and have greatly disliked other classics (yet loved even more)

Second half of A little life one of the saddest things I’ve ever experienced. Sometimes I physically could not read it, I desperately wanted to keep reading but my eyes were filling with tears faster than I could wipe them away. Personally I loved it but some dont like how unrelentingly extreme it is.
