Request: fantasy or sci fi series where the main setting is a major historical conflict

In my head, it’s a fantasy series with a backdrop of either the revolutionary war or civil war. I basically want a series that covers a major US historical conflict, where the conflict is the setting but the main story is still of a fantasy or sci fi nature. I want it to be a conflict that I have significant prior knowledge of. I grew up in the US public school system, so that includes basically any major US conflict. I’m good with both pro and anti-US stories as well. I tend to prefer longer series but I’m also good with novels or short series if they satisfy the other criteria well.
