I read this in one sitting and generally enjoyed it. It goes off the rails in the last 50 pages, but in a pretty entertaining way, sort of like Phillip K Dick's more insane books. But I'm at a loss to make sense of some of Jane's behavior.

    HUGE SPOILERS!
I think I get the Bad Monkeys' goal with the ant farm setup. They want to catch Jane in an evil act that can't be explained as bad luck, or interference, and in a circumstance that doesn't foil their emotional reading tech. But why does Jane go through the whole pantomime given her understanding of the situation? She already knows that the doctor is Phil, and has the means to kill him. So why the whole testimony, including inventing made-up conversations with him? She's obviously not going to trick him, and the bulk of her story seems to be true (at least as far as she understands). Maybe manipulation, but that seems unnecessary, given that she just plans to kill him anyway. Is it just because she's kinda crazy and enjoys messing with him? Or did I miss something important?
