I just reread Bridge to Terabithia and I liked the rural setting and vibes and how they played into the characters' childhood relationships. I'd like to read something similar, but I've found that a lot of those cottagecore-style books I've seen suggested on the Internet are mostly just children's books that don't really touch on more serious themes like in Terabithia. They shouldn't have to be super dark or gruesome or subversive or anything and they shouldn't be super depressing or anything, they should just have those nice cottagecore/pastoral/rural vibes without being too boringly or obnoxiously happy-go-lucky or hollow.
