I asked about a DNF on here and people responded saying it took them 2 or 3 times to get through it… When or if you reread do you go back and start from the beginning or do you just go back a chapter or two to remind yourself of what’s going on? I just can’t imagine trying 3 times to get through a book… At that point isn’t it just not for you?

    1. I’ve come back to books I gave up on as a teen, since my tastes have changed (and maybe I wasn’t ready for them yet at that age).

With especially heavy non-fiction and very lengthy poetry collections, I sometimes need to take breaks to read something else, no matter how interested I am in reading them. I wouldn’t call that not finishing a book, but I’ve seen people on here, Tumblr, and YouTube who would.

I’ve tried four times to read a very, very popular classic, over the course of about a decade. I just can’t get into it. The writing is excessively wordy and I can’t stand the author’s style. I’ve tried multiple times because everyone else seems to love it so much and I want to see what everyone else loves. But, I just cannot see it. It’s disappointing, but I’ve given up now and just accepted I will never like it!
