Can you suggest me a book where the protagonist is reluctant during the whole length of the book? Usually we have protagonists who are reluctant at first but fully commit to the cause by the mid or end of the book. Are there any books where leading character is reluctant throughout the book?

The Thomas Covenant series by Stephen R. Donaldson. Warning: protagonist is not only reluctant but an anti-hero; at times, you’ll hate his guts.
