I recently finished Six Stories by Matt Wesolowski. I don’t usually do crime, but the way it was presented to me got me interested: it’s told in the form of a podcast, all dialogue or monologue (there is some short prose every other chapter). As an occasional podcast listener, I found it very authentic and immersive and overall liked the format a lot.

It made me think of One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London which I read some time during the pandemic, where the main character attends a bachelor-like dating reality tv-show.

And then also Julie Powell‘s Julie and Julia, where the MC starts an online blog about her cooking journey. It’s mostly prose, but also blog posts and the overarching theme is definitely her blog.

And, coincidentally, some years ago I read another crime novel with podcast elements, Sadie by Courtney Summers.

Overall I really enjoy these elements, although I can’t really put my finger on why exactly. Anybody feel the same? And anybody have some more recommendations?
