Most of the books similar to what I want are in fall reclists and all the summer recs I get are fluffy beach romances. I really wanted something a bit darker or a bit weirder that still had the summer vibes, something pretentious tbh. Ideally, book that explores feminism, classicism, racism, religious themes, etc with a homoerotic codependent female friendship. I don’t mind if it's slow paced
Bonus points if it involves classical musicians, history or archeology in any way.
(Not that there's anything wrong with the fluffy beach romances btw. I'm reading that back and I'm sounding way too dismissive. Im just not vibing with romance recently.)
(Also, it doesnt have to explore all of those themes. That's a bit unrealistic to expect. Just one is fine.)
