Hi everyone! I'm looking for character-driven experimental-adjacent fiction about working class experiences in a specific city/location, where it feels like, although some experiences are universal, this story could only be told from the perspective of someone from this specific place. Does this make sense?
Some examples:
Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas (south Wales)
The Lonely Londoners – Sam Selvon (London)
Trainspotting – Irvine Welsh (Edinburgh)
Last Exit to Brooklyn – Hubert Selby Jr (Brooklyn)
Any place, any period! Also please anything that vaguely fits this will do, so anything that pops into your head
Thank you!
