Texas has only recently been bumped to the no. 2 spot in the U.S. (by Florida, of course) for book banning after being the country’s leader in censorship for a while.
I like to read banned books, I want to know why they end up on the chopping block. Some are just ridiculous. Some make a bit of sense.
My paper recently published a special issue focused on banned books and I thought it would be good to share the cover story here in case anyone else has strong opinions one way or the other about censorship and book banning.
It looks at some of the books that North Texas school have banned or are trying to ban and why they may be booted.
