I've been wanting to get hooked on a book for a while, I wish I could spend my free time in a better way (to get away from my phone) but I've been too distracted by reading since I was a kid.
Do you have any recommendations for a book that is light to read but that will get me hooked? And I also take this opportunity to ask, do you have any technique to concentrate and finish a book?
I like mystery, suspense, fantasy maybe, I am open to any recommendation.

My go to book rec for people who want to get into reading is Holes by Louis Sachar, because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging!
i had an issue with my mind wandering when i first started reading and then there i was, 5 pages later like wait i haven’t paid ANY attention, i have no idea what’s going on.
what helped me was listening to the audiobook and reading the physical/ebook at the same time!
I like *MurderBot Diaries* for this one. Most of them are novellas, and the storytelling is very efficient, due to the narrator’s character. They’re a really good time
Listen to them on Audible. It’s a game changer!
If you like science fiction, I recommend “Alexander Outland: Space Pirate” by G. J. Koch
breakfast of champions by vonnegut, its got drawings and its silly af, very easy entry point
Here’s a list of fast paced easy to read books-
Dial A for Aunties
The Selection series
Better than the movies
We were liars
Six of Crows
hmm, I think you should read ” Everything is Fucked By Mark Manson” which is very light and you can pretty much understand most of the content.
I am a sci-fi aficionado Andy Weir and Dennis E Taylor both write enjoyable easy to read books. The collections of Arthur C Clarkes short stories are all easy going and fun.
Hard to suggest a book that might get you hooked without knowing what interests you 🙂
What movie genres do you usually go for? Find yourself a short story collection within the same genre and start there.
Why a short story? Because it’s short!
Before you even begin to lose interest, you will be done! And now either you take a break or move onto the next story. Rinse and repeat!
Listening to nostalgic music, usually from games I’ve played as a little kid or Studio Ghibli movies helps get me into the mood for reading.
Plus a cup or two of black coffee to keep me going while I’m at it 🙂
