Hello. Can you recommend any fantasy books that are this mostly depressing and have a deep story? I am looking for something with a world similar to Dark Souls or Elden Ring. I know these are video games, and I'm not sure if everyone is familiar with them, but I'm looking for something like this (preferably without romance).

The Broken Empire series by Mark Lawrence might go into the right direction. Pretty dark with an unusual protagonist.
But I’m interested to read other recommendations here as well!

I just finished Fairy Tale by Stephen King and my first feeling was that the world was very similar to Dark Souls. It’s from the point of view of a 17 year old which removes some of the darkness but still an enjoyable read
