I recently been reading a lot of dystopian fiction books like Fahrenheit 451, brave New World, and 1984. Does anyone have any other dystopian novel recommendations that go into other topics like artificial intelligence for example?

    1. The Oryx and Crake trilogy is a good dystopian series about issues like genetic engineering, corporate greed, and climate change. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oryx_and_Crake](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oryx_and_Crake)

Some good AI books that I’ve read that aren’t dystopian include the Culture Series [https://www.goodreads.com/series/49118-culture](https://www.goodreads.com/series/49118-culture), Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie, and A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers.

    2. Not AI, but dystopian:
      – Never Let Me Go, by Kazuo Ishiguro…can’t think of a way to describe the dystopia without spoiling it.
      – Klara and the Sun, same author: android focused
      – Chain-Gang All Stars, by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah: (very violent) critique of the prison system and reality tv culture
      – We, by Yevgeny Zamyatin: 1984-esque (it actually came first)

And if you’re interested in YA dystopia:
      – Unwind, by Neal Shusterman: unruly or unwanted teens can be unwound/made to “live in a divided state” (all of their physical body donated to various recipients)
      – Matched, by Allie Condie: people are assigned partners by the Society (based on a computer scan)
      – So many people enjoy Uglies, by Scott Westerfield (the “haves” undergo plastic surgery and live vapid lives), but I hated the writing. Could just be me.
      – The Testing, by Joelle Charbonneau: Hunger Games-esque

      The Road – Cormac McCarthy

more apocalyptic than dystopian though tbh
