A group of characters (who maybe start normally) cause a major cataclysm or revolution or disaster in society
I don't have an example in mind unfortunately, I just want a group of dudes to destroy society, on purpose or not, doesn't matter, I just want a cast with diverse personalities.
The Rifters series by Peter Watts. The whole series is available free on the author’s website.
The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir. This one isn’t finished yet, so the cataclysm, revolution, and/or disaster is still unfolding. The characters are majority female.
Blood Music by Greg Bear. There’s a [short story version](https://www.baen.com/Chapters/9781625791153/9781625791153___2.htm) available free on the publisher’s website, and a novel version that shows more of the major cataclysm, but IMO starts out really slow. There are more characters in the novel, so more different personalities.
Good News From Outer Space by John Kessel. I can’t say much without spoiling it, but the characters start out as regular people and end up quite different. Lots of diverse personalities.
