[Request] Non-fiction book exploring western fascination with Japanese pop culture and Japanese fascination with western pop culture

I'm curious if there exists a book that gives a sociological explanation for the western world's fascination with Japanese life and pop culture and Japan's fascination with western life and pop culture. An example would be how there exist so-called otakus in the west who consume heavy amounts of anime and those in Japan who romanticize Paris or are obsessed with a show like, say, Rick and Morty.

I'd imagine it boils down to the respective escapism that both sides get, but I'm curious if there's more to it than that.
