Hello,
I recently lost my beloved cat of 16 years quite suddenly. I’m struggling a lot with his death. I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations for books – fiction or non-fiction about cats and/or about coping, grieving pet loss.
Thank you.

Have You Seen Marie? by Sandra Cisneros uses a lost (as in missing) cat to process the grief of losing (as in death) her mother.
James Herriot’s cat stories
Mango Shaped Space by Wendy Mass is about grief, death, and sadly, >!the cat dies!<
The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide is about the subtle impact cats have on our daily lives, and sadly, >!the cat dies!<
Coraline, by Neil Gaiman, has a black cat as an important side character, no death
Starter Villian by John Scalzi features cats very prominently, no death
I also recommend reading Calvin and Hobbes (the comic series) by Bill Watterson. He modeled Hobbes after his own cats and it really shows
And, as a fellow cat lover, I am very sorry for your loss
