I’m in need of some recommendations! I’m in the mood for a mystery/thriller that is preferably around 300-400 pages, with likable and relatable characters! I really loved agggtm, and just finished The Cuckoo’s calling which I liked but felt that it was too long. Books I tried recently but couldn’t get into were The Housemaid, Rock Paper Scissors and Local Woman Missing. Thank you in advance!

I’ve recently been into Joe Ide’s private detective series about IQ (Isaiah Quintabe)….he’s a young African American from the ‘hood’ that is super smart/clever. He uses his Sherlock Holmes’ ability of observation to right to wrongs in his community….but he’s a bit broken so he has to deal with that.
She Lies in Wait by Gytha Lodge
The Housekeepers by Alex Hay
The Block Party by Jamie Day
Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M Danforth
Inspired by Murder by Audrey J Cole
The Maid by Nita Prose
I really like the characters in the books by Donna Leon or Faye Kellerman. Best to start with the first book in the series. The characters evolve as there are families involved. The ritual bath by Faye Kellerman or Death at La Fenice by Donna Leon.
