I’ve recently been interested in somewhat disturbingly unique books, but I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for anything similar to Jack London’s ‘To Build a Fire.’

Preferably longer than the original but still with the tone and ideas of it. Not sure how to describe what I’m specifically looking for, but the closest thing is something focusing on someone’s desperation and thoughts during a depressing and terrifying situation.

It doesn’t HAVE to be a life or death thing like ‘To Build a Fire,’ but just something scary and preferably possible in reality.

I have no triggers with anything, just prefer something thats not uselessly gruesome and edgy.

Thank you sm in advance to anyone who helps!!! Have a good day everyone!!!

Read any book about polar explorers or Perry Fawcetts expedition into the Amazon.
