Titles I've read, newest to oldest:

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath – quick read in a day, adored her casual and deadpan style, more funny than I expected, enjoyed the first person

Portrait of a Lady by Henry James – loved, really enjoyed his prose and ridiculous sentences/imagery, the length was a bonus

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë – also enjoyed her descriptive style and the first person aspect, story was engaging

Michael Crichton – Jurassic Park, Sphere, Prey – these were all alright, quick and fun, but sort of forgettable, not my favorite genre?

Stephen King – 11/22/63 and Under the Dome – I agree with King's own sentiment on his writing being a big mac or whatever of literature, I really enjoyed the worlds these books created but I'd like something more "serious" if you catch my drift, also not my favorite genre I think

Thoughts? I could do with another female protagonist but it's not essential. I do enjoy some romance, a life story? Drama? I've tried to read some of Henry James' other works like wings of a dove or ambassadors but the complexity is cranked up way too high for me right now. Also started Mrs Dalloway by Woolf but it just hasn't hooked me and I don't think I like her style so much.

    Many thanks in advance (•‿•)
