Halfway through. McEwan can truly write some devastating prose. This guy has every tool at his disposal. He can upset you. He can wow you. He can teleport you to a moment and give it a scope you might never consider. His prose is top notch, his understanding of the human condition is so thorough.
I hadn’t read anything by him since Solar, which I really disliked.
I have Sweet Tooth sitting on my shelf. Think that’ll probably be next because I’d forgotten how much I like this man’s novels.
I was standing in a parking lot at my job today reading in my free time (I know that sounds weird) but I wanted to cry reading a part of Lessons. It’s so fucked up, but so realistic. So many people live moments just like the one being described so sincerely; his work can leave you feeling denuded.
McEwan is one hell of a novelist.
