I won the random name pull at my local comic store so I get to pick July's book club book. The book club is well attended and has a strong membership. Im not concerned about alienating members. We have read a bunch of indie horror comics, some of DC and Marvel, and a few other indie comicsof different genres.
I'm thinking of trying a different direction by going with something more academic or old school important stuff. Titles I'm considering are Understanding Comics, A Contract with God, The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, something by Robert Crumb maybe Genesis. I was considering 1602 but it's a bit too main stream. I do want go outside our norm. Do you people have any suggestions for comic books in print that wont break the bank ($20 to $30) based off my description?
