Hi redditors, I’m looking for books with that gothic fantasy or surrealist vibe where the main protagonist is struggling with their mental health. The setting could be many places as long as it matches the vibe. Especially an asylum or another world with that alice in wonderland vibe or wizard of oz vibe.
I’m not looking for ones that feel like a medieval fantasy fairytale (The School for Good and Evil being an example)
Some examples are Fran Bow, The Series of Unfortunate Events, The Coffin of Andy and LeLe, (, Alice Madness Returns, Little Misfortune, SuckerPunch and Angels of Darkness.
