Hey folks, I'm wondering if anyone can give me some recommendations. I'm looking for something a bit specific: books with examples of natural, diverse dialogue in British English. More specifically, I'd like to get a sense of how younger British adults (mid-twenties to thirties) of different backgrounds talk to each other in books. Bonus points for works in the crime/mystery/thriller genres. Short stories are also a plus, since I'd like to read widely…

If anyone's wondering, I'm a translator working on a book for a British publisher. The work has lots of young people in an extreme situation and I (an America) am struggling to find ways to keep their speech natural and distinct, and also hoping to appease my British editors with a keen eye for 'Americanisms'.
