I was SOOO excited to read The Ravishing of Lol Stein by Marguerite Duras because Elena Ferrante recommended it and I LOVE her work.
But it was SO bad… I cannot even explain
It was like Lacan except even more boring (somehow)
Lol Stein is the most uninteresting unrealistic underdeveloped character I’ve ever read
I’ve read Wattpad novels with better plots.. I mean, Duras (the author) obviously hated plots. God forbid anything actually happened.
It was like the show “You” except utterly and totally boring. Just awful
I’m posting this here because Goodreads is full of praise for this novel and I feel all alone in my hatred of it. Pls let me know if you hated it too.

Well the problem is Lacan is great, so now I want to read this.
I hate that – when an author you love has a new book and it’s terrible I’m currently mad at Margaret Atwood for this very reason.
Side question – the first season of YOU was an Oscar nobel prizing winning crown jewel compared to this last season. Have you seen it?
