Have you tried your local library? They have ebooks

Most local libraries (in the US at least) have an ebook partnership with a program. My library – and from what I’ve seen on here, most libraries – use Libby. You can find out through your local library. For Libby, all you need is your library card number (which I got through my county government website, though you may need to go to your library in person to show ID). Then you log into Libby with your card number, and then you’ll have access to all the ebooks and audiobooks available through your library’s program. Generally not a great place to check out brand new or perennially popular books (like Harry Potter or something) because there’s usually a long waitlist, but instant access to thousands of titles (my library lets you “check it out” for ten days and then you automatically lose access to the book, so no late fees to worry about). And a pretty powerful search engine, so I’ve discovered a lot of good books I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.
