I used to be a big reader all throughout high school. After that college kinda destroyed that with assignment readings and with work stress. I’m now in a place where I want to get back into reading. However, I am very picky about author’s writing styles. I think a lot of contemporary authors that I have come across write in a way that is pretentious or unnecessary and in my opinion does not serve the content of the book well.
Here are a few books that I love. I hope someone can help me with a few suggestions of authors and titles to check out.
Faves:
– Anything by David Sedaris (but I especially love “Theft by Finding”.)
– Most George Saunders works (especially “The Brief and Frightening Rein of Phil”.)
– The Harry Potter series
– The Queens Gambit
– Outlander
Also, I’m currently reading Life of Pi and I am enjoying it so far.
Thank you for your recs!!

She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb.
Anything Christopher Moore. I highly recommend Lamb and his Vampire series (Bloodsucking Fiends, You Suck, and Bite Me). The Fool series is also good (Fool, The Serpent of Venice, and Shakespeare for Squirrels).
