I'm a university student and finals are coming up again, which means I'm busy and stressed during all of June and some of July. Books are my escape and help me cope with stress, I really need to find moments to read casually so I don't burn out. But I also need to focus on my studies and not spend too much time reading for fun and wasting time.

I get very emotionally invested so a lot of books are out because my care for the character turns it into a page-turner. Instead I picked up a thriller I didn't have too high expectations for. Wrong decision, I'm constantly thinking about it and wanting to find out what happens. It's actually distracting just having this book in the house. This is a dual problem because 1) it interferes with my study focus and 2) I feel like I wasted an amazing read that I would have devoured under different circumstances.

But what else can I read?? Everything seems like page-turner potential or not even worth buying (libraries aren't an option here). Not to mention a bad book won't help me calm down from finals-stress. The only book I have that seems like the right balance between engaging and not TOO engaging is Wolf Hall but the language is way too heavy for my exhausted brain right now.

What do you read in times like these? It doesn't have to be during actual finals, I'm sure there are paralel situations with work or other matter
