I’m looking for novels with romance similar to The Man Who Laughs by Victor Hugo, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, Mr. Sunshine (a Korean TV show). I prefer it when the lovers have self-esteem, they are well-matched and there’s a masculine/feminine dynamic. I’d prefer a happy ending. By self-esteem, I mean that they know they are competent and worthy of happiness. In The Man Who Laughs, the man and woman are well matched because he is very competent but disfigured and she is blind. In Atlas Shrugged, she runs the best train company in the world and he invented the best motor, including for trains, in the world. The lovers are well-matched in other, harder to describe ways as well.
