The world seems dark, conflicted and doomed. Every tale I read or watch is about killings, corruption or evil. I'm looking for a book(s) that tell a story of hope and excitement; Andy Weir's "The Martian" would be a great example. Or perhaps, on another tangent, some of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. Georgette Heyer romances are great but I wasn't looking for romance as such. I'm looking for storys that uplift without being cloying. Books about the better part of the human spirit. I'm so over the dark.
Any ideas?
