    1. Define children? The answer will be very different depending on if we’re looking at actual children’s literature (target demographic under 8), middle grade (8-12), or young adult (13+)

      Do the Winnie the Pooh stories count? I think that might be about as close as we get in our kids’ books.

      These guys have a series of graphic novel short story collections featuring folk tale retellings from around the world. It’s written for adults, and some of the stories are on the scary side, but a lot of them are fine for kids. My copies all have post it notes in the table of contents so my 8yo knows which stories are safe to read. She and the 5yo really enjoyed multiple stories from the South America and Asia collections in particular.
