    Hello,

Just a little bit of trivia for fun – if a book is 8.5 inches long (or tall) how many books would it take if stacked end to end to wrap around the widest part of the world 3 times? Also… gotta keep in mind humidity, dryness, soaked, heat, and cold… it all makes the books expand and contract. The paper is uncoated paper.

My wife and I are considering purchasing a boat load of books, 25,000 of them. They are a mix of new and used, the theme is completely mixed – it is mostly books though, almost no magazines or coloring books and that sort of thing. I have a few questions, also I’d appreciate any advice from any of you that has experience with selling books and/or Amazon selling FBA or even doing the sales then shipping from home, ebay, etc… . We’ve already put a deposit down to lock in the sale to give us a bit of time to research (I was honest about that with him) but part of the deal is that I have to empty the place…. we have to get the books, the shelves, totes, unbolt displays from the walls, etc etc. I run a construction business for 20 years and I do have a small warehouse but definitely don’t have the room for this stuff – The good news is that I do have the trucks and man power to move it all.

I was considering just getting some pallets and gaylord boxes and just pallet them up then taking them somewhere but…. man…. I’d have to go back through them again. My understanding is that they are already labelled for a computer system which the man has but I’m not certain if they are amazon ready even if I wanted to. Plus there are fees for storage at amazon per item and shipping and there is SO MUCH conflicting information, I’ve spent 12 hours researching and finally now I’m just hoping some of you can tell me what I need to know based on your experience

I greatly appreciate your responses, thank you so much in advance!!

    Questions:

I have the manifest of the books which includes ISBN number, the title, author, keywords, hard or soft cover, and wear of the book in a spread sheet. Is there a free place that I can upload them into their software just to see what they are worth and then sort them by value? I don’t mind paying for a service like that but I just want to take a look at the real value of the lot.

He has them organized in a program and sections on the shelves so that they are easy to find but I’m not sure if that program would transfer over to another program or not… its definitely not the Dewey Decimal system though ><.

This can probably be answered from the above question but are there reliable programs (the reliable part is the important part) I don’t want you all to think I’m just being lazy… I can google software and read what they are supposed to do but if I go through with this the profit isn’t going to be massive, so I’m trying to make as few mistakes as possible – A program that can automatically update pricing for the books as the market changes, organization system, maybe even an AI that will either immediately or perhaps after a book doesn’t sell for a year or so it will suggest which books to pack up in to a gaylord and sell as bulk to someone who wants random bulk books?

Actually… I’m going to stop there, like I said above, I’d greatly appreciate any advice that you guys have…. in fact, if you do this for a living or at least have a lot of experience with it, hmu in the DMs and I’ll send you the manifest and you’re welcome to choose a book or two you for your time if you’d be willing to speak with me for a bit, not long, just 5-10 mins at the most. I don’t want to seem like a freeloader. That doesn’t mean that I don’t want to know what you have to say here though! Please and thank you!
