I'm working on our library's summer reading program list. You only have to read one section (3 books), but because of who I am as a person… I have to read all of the books.

I am usually a romantic comedy reader. I will read outside of my comfort zone, which I sometimes do with the reading program. However, if I can find suggestions that will fit the guidelines but still give me romantic comedy or at least romance… I would prefer that.

I am trying to find one book that fits each section. If you can come up with something that fits romantic comedy, great. If you have another suggestion that fits that you really think I should read, I will take that too.

    Here is the list:
Legal thriller – a type of crime fiction genre that focuses on the proceedings of the investigation, with particular reference to the impacts on courtroom proceedings, and the lives of the characters

Psychological thriller – a genre that involves mind, games, manipulation, and psychological warfare between characters

Espionage thriller – a genre that involves spies or government agents, and their risk of being discovered by their enemies

Other worlds/space – a genre based on imagined future, portraying space or life on other planets

Dystopian – a genre that involves a futuristic imagined universe in which oppressive societal control is maintained through bureaucratic, technological, moral, or totalitarian control

Technology – a genre that involves computers, robots, artificial intelligence, or other advanced technology

Action adventure – a genre that features characters involved in exciting and unusually dangerous activities and adventures

Horror – a genre of fiction whose purpose is to create feelings of fear, dread, repulsion, and terror in the reader

Historical time and place – a fictional book that focuses on a specific time and place in history – for example, Paris during World War II

Historical figure – a fictional book that focuses on a specific historical figure – for example, a book that features George Washington as a main character

Historical romance – a genre consisting of books that take place in a historical setting with the romance of the main character being the focus

Romantic suspense – a romance novel with a plot that focuses on a mystery, suspense, or thriller storyline

Romantic comedy – a genre that focuses on lighthearted, humorous, plot, lines centered on romantic ideas, such as how true love is able to overcome most obstacles

Whodunit – a mystery in which a crime is committed at the beginning of the story – from there, an astute investigator, either amateur or professional, is called to solve the case

Locked room mystery – a mystery that is in a locked room, a deserted island, or an isolated house with a limited number of suspects – sometimes called a Howdunit?

Caper or heist – a genre in which one or more crimes (especially thefts, swindles, or occasionally kidnappings) are perpetrated by the main characters in full view of the reader

Anthology – a collection of poems, short stories, or short novels with a common theme by a single author or multiple authors

Mythology or fairytale – reread any mythology or fairytale book from your childhood or read a selection from the adult collection

True adventure – true life, tales of real people, and their explorations, adventures, or survival against all odds

There are more to choose from, but they are mostly readers choice which I think I can figure out – ha.

Anyway, thanks in advance for your help!
