Hi everyone sorry if this is a specific request but whenever I need to get back into better habits, I try to read children's books since its usually written in a way that's easier to digest. Last time I felt this way I read The Last Unicorn and The Wind in the Willows, but I'm really in the mood to read stories with action/fighting, particularly one that's written very well technically since I'm also trying to improve writing combat scenes if that's possible.

If it helps, some books/authors that I love are Chuck Palahniuk (Invisible Monsters is my fave), Tamsyn Muir, and Octavia Butler. I'm currently reading Neuromancer which is awesome I like how it's written but I need something else right now too.

    Thank you!!

    1. It’s been a really long time since I read these, but the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy might be what you seek. I recall reading the author is a martial arts instructor, but all these years later I can’t actually remember how detailed the fight scenes in the books were.

If you like Neuromancer, check out the rest of the series. The sequel Count Zero is my favourite. Here’s some other novels in the same genre with action scenes:

      * Voice of the Whirlwind by Walter Jon Williams

      * Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan. This is definitely for adults. It has very explicit sex scenes as well as gore and torture.

      * Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. This is satire of the genre while also telling its own serious story.
