    I haven't read a book fully for years, as it stopped being enjoyable when I was being forced to read specific books in school and it felt more like work, rather than just reading for pleasure.

    I want to get back into reading but don't really know where to start. I feel like I want to read fairly short books to start with, and preferably ones that hook you in straight away and you can't put down, as I find it quite hard to start a book but as soon as it interests me it's easy to read.

    I remember I used to like skulduggery pleasant and books by Jacqueline Wilson and Enid Blyton. I also like watching series and movies with comedy, romance and a lot of drama. Maybe with supernatural elements in it but it doesn't have to. Hopefully some of this is helpful for recommendations, thanks in advance.

      Sure thing, boo! Check out “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas. It’s got drama, some realness, and a real page-turner. Enjoy!

    2. * Warhammer 40k Franchise: **Prospero Burns** or **Know No Fear**
      * Classic Sci-fi:
      * Dune (the later books…get weird, but Dune itself is interesting if you don’t mind politics)
      * Ender’s Game / Speaker for the Dead. Honestly, watch Ender’s Game the movie, and then read Speaker for the Dead the book. There are other books in the series, but Speaker for the Dead was the peak, and Ender’s Game (movie) should give you enough context to enjoy SftD.
      * Spy fiction:
      * Rainbow Six (and then feel creeped out by how close to a certain virus that recently swept the world the storyline is…except this book was written in the 80s)
      * The Sum of All Fears (Nothing like the movie, and nightmare fuel for how easy it is to build an atomic bomb, provided you have the materials and a college-level understanding of nuclear physics)
      * The Hunt for Red October (if you are curious how and why submarines work the way they do)

      Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett. It’s a great audiobook too.
