Given the ingredients mixed into the story up to Baley and Dr. Quemot's seeing (this has great meaning for those who have read it), what did you think when the Spacer sociologist said what was quoted above? Weren't we all thinking the same thing? Before Dr. Quemot's ancient example as explanation, the sociologist did state how Solaria was settled….
What do you think Asimov's intention was? I read between the lines, and know everything a writer writes he or she writes for a reason.
The first book in this series is a classic called Caves of Steel.
