Given the ingredients mixed into the story up to Baley and Dr. Quemot's seeing (this has great meaning for those who have read it), what did you think when the Spacer sociologist said what was quoted above? Weren't we all thinking the same thing? Would I be wrong to say that what we all were thinking was the real society model Asimov was implying, and Dr. Quemot's later sociological explanation was just more pleasant, cleaner example for those who don't read between the lines. Before Dr. Quemot's ancient example, the sociologist did state how Solaria was settled….
Amazing how a writer can mean something other than what he is saying. I'm sure plenty have discovered this in Naked Sun, but I am sure even more have not. It is like Asimov is having a secret conversation with those willing to partake.
The first book in this series is a classic called Caves of Steel.
