I just finished about a year long sci-fi deep dive and I think it is time to come back to fantasy. I really am in the mood for something involving dragons or dragon riders. Last week I read Ascendant by Michael Miller (because it had been recommended to me) and I did not really enjoy it at all. It was so predictable and felt like a copy and paste of every other dragon rider series out there. I love game of thrones because of the complexity and how it isn't a "young adult" book. I've read the popular dragon rider books like Eragon, Fourth Wing, etc… but I really want to know if there is something out there that is a bit more complex and oriented towards adults? I'd love some recommendations if anyone has any! Thanks in advance.

Can’t vouch for quality because I haven’t read myself, but I’ve heard very good things about Temeraire by Naomi Novik—Naopleonic Wars if there was a dragon air force, apparently.
