My goal is four books a month. I am aware it is not a lot but if i try to do more i fail and also get anxious. I like to take my time with books. To fully envision the scenes, make them parts of myself.

The thing is if i set a goal to read a book every day i fail miserably. I am better at alternating books every day. Routine kills me. Or i don’t read half the month and the other half i read four books together, a few pages each. Anyone else like this? Is it weird/odd? What are your reading patterns?

I dunno if it’s weird, that’s just how some people read. My aunt used to literally have a book in every room.

I can only read one at a time, myself. Anytime I try to do more than one at a time, I end up getting about 1/4 or so through one then just reading whichever one seems more interesting.

    2. I’m the opposite. I prefer to read one at a time. I can’t leave the characters in that situation and not know for days what happens…..

But there’s no wrong way to enjoy reading books

    3. I like to read physical books during the day. I need the natural lighting and take them with me to read during breaks from hiking etc.

After dark I listen to audiobooks.

I have always done this since I was a kid. They are from different genres to match my mood. So I usually have 3 active books and fanfiction. Right now I have a thriller, a fantasy and I just finished britney spears memoir so Ill be replacing it with a romance book. The fanfic reads are more fluid cause sometimes they are shorter. Having a kindle is great for this habit.

I don’t think that’s weird! I usually have four on the go, two fiction and two non-fiction. The main reason is because one of them is usually a huge, complicated history book that would take me months to get through and I can only read a few pages at a time without getting tired. So I alternate between the different things I’m reading, same as you.

I don’t think it’s weird. I usually have a poetry collection and book going at the same time. Each night, I read from both.

    7. I see nothing wrong, to each their own. If it works for you stick with it. I can only do one at a time.

    8. I usually have no less than 2 books going at a time. My mood changes and it’s nice to have an option on what you want to dive into

It’s like every dad tells his daughters, it’s about quantity dear, not quality. Get that body count up.

Nope. I read one book at a time. If I don’t finish it the first night then I’ll finish the second night then move on.

Reading multiple at a time will only cause me to take multiple days to finish each book. So not only I’m a interrupting my story each time I switch the book, I’m elongating my process and if the book isn’t good enough to be compelling for more than a day or two I’ll lose interest.

    11. I usually have four books in rotation at once: one nonfiction, one book of poetry or high-literary kind of writing, one comparatively-easier-to-read fiction, and one comic or graphic novel. I’ll alternate between them depending on mood, and they’re so different that I don’t have any trouble getting them mixed up.

    12. I usually have two, sometimes three. Usually one physical book, one audiobook, and sometimes one other physical book that is something akin to a poetry or essay collection or a collection of short stories, or sometimes just a long nonfic that will take a while to slog through.

    13. I usually have three or four going at a time, split between hardcopy, Kindle, and Audible. Then whatever I feel like reading that day, I have options.

Don’t stress yourself out about reading a certain amount per day or week or month. As you said, enjoy the books you have and take the time needed to enjoy them. I find sometimes I stress myself out that I’m not getting thru enough books, and it actually keeps me from finishing them. So I take a breath and remember to enjoy.

    14. That’s the beauty of having an e-reader like a Kindle. I can have 4 or 5 books active at once and just switch to a other whenever and wherever. I’ve got 5 going right. Is and just started another because one of my library holds just came in
