I don’t always have much time to read and prefer to use the library, so I have a hard time finishing longer books before they need to go back. I tried reading Altered Carbon (416 pages) and even that was a bit too long; had to turn it back in and still haven’t gotten to finish it. My preferred length would be around 250 pages, and a series is fine.
I really like sci-fi and detective stories, but I’m open to fantasy or adventure novels, too. Some of my favorite reads have been Slaughterhouse V, Dawn by Octavia Butler, Psalm of the Wild-Built, and Chainsaw Man (manga), which I was surprised by and finished in one evening.
