So once again finished up another Repairman Jack novel (Really need to get more of this series!). 2003's "Gateways".
In this installment Jack learns that his father has suffered a car accident and he is in the hospital in a coma. They may have been on the outs, but this is still his dad, so now he heads south to a retirement community in the Everglades called Gateways.
But in an isolated area in the Everglades lives a woman named Semelee who has weird talents along with a group of deformed men. And she has felt Jack's presence. To her she senses that he is "special" like her.
So now Jack must protect his father from becoming another fatality at Gateways while also seeking answers to questions and uncovering hidden secrets.
This is the second Repairman Jack I've read so far now, and now I want more of it! Even when I was reading it I just knew I had, no ought, to get more of these books, especially the Adversary Cycle that is also intertwined with it. This series really has me hooked, even if I'm not reading it in the correct order. I've the rest of it, including the Adversary Cycle, on my Amazon wish list, though who knows, I may even come across a couple at thrift store!
