Like the title requests, I’m looking for a book like the movie Legion where God rains down penance on mankind instead of the usual cliche where it’s satan who manipulates people. Preferably something with a horror element.
Also a side note, looking for a source book that goes over the lore of angels and their roles in Catholicism and how it depicts how they aren’t what most modern believers think they are. Something like Daemonologie by King James but for Angels and shit

Not quote what you’re looking for but it’s not fully unrelated. There’s a series called Clovenhoof by Heide Goody and Iain Grant. Its absolutely a comedy. You could also try the man of legends
Well there’s a whole genre of this if you’re willing to abstract a bit, books about the end times or Revelations or the rapture. It’s got stuff in it like the four horsemen and all kinds of really weird stuff that probably boils down to nuclear radiation and such.
There’s the Amazon prime series called good omens, the first season talks about this but it is based in comedic relief, though it does have a good bit of people causing their own problems just by being themselves.
